Sister, you are my new favourite writer. Thank you for sharing. I wish I had had the guts to start writing again when my girls were that young. Please keep it up. Please take us along on all your journeys.
Done. Susbcribed. Love it. You're awesome! No, really, I really enjoyed this post and the way it moved. What an adventure you've been on and are on. It reminds me of a movie actually, Rise. Had to watch it for an assignment. Can't wait to read more!
Oh Rahma, I’m so thrilled you commented on my Note in the Substack Soirée. I am so glad to have met your writing!! These words of yours hit me so squarely where I needed them:
point yourself in the right direction, then enjoy the road. If the destination is desirable, the length of the journey is less important. Slow down. It's okay to rest.
Also, your description of yourself is very much mine - mixed, married mixed, kid mixed (I have just 1) searching for a home! The searching for a home bit is my driving desire now, and it feels hard to rest and enjoy the journey bc I want so badly to arrive there.
Thanks for sharing your journey here! -Vanessa :-)
Welcome back:) I loved how beautifully you emphasized on giving time to settle in for a good amount of time and then using adaptability as a tool to embrace what youve been given as new responsibilities. I can relate to so many points here being a mom of a newborn in a new country. Appreciate your work❤️
Congratulations on becoming a mother! So much joy and so much challenge and often so much loneliness too. Especially when you're far from your closest people. May you be surrounded with support and nourishment and blessed with the courage to accept it 🤲🏼 Sending so much love ❤️
Loved this piece! Can so relate to "all the efficient ways of being that I'd spent the previous years learning were rendered useless." One of the things that I missed when I became a mother was efficiency.
Thank you for sharing this journey and for not waiting for the "perfect time" to start writing.

Laurie, you're my new favourite commenter. Thank you so much for your encouragement. It really means a lot.
