All of this is so moving and beautiful and now I have to read your other stuff.

This part jumped out: Perhaps that's unfair. What I mean to say is, thank you, for the courage you are demonstrating now; the international move, the new role, the honesty with yourself, the willingness to try new things. I'm reaping the rewards of all that.

I was speechless after reading. I had a similar way of being so super critical of myself in my 20s while facing challenges when what I’m realizing is there is no other way to LEARN than by DOING. I’m so grateful for that version of me that saw the mountain and said yup imma scale it. She’s laid a foundation I stand on today.

Thank you for the wonderful read.

Thank you for this Rachel! These are beautiful reflections.

"There is to other way to LEARN than by DOING"

This is one of the hardest pills to swallow for me. The fact that I often have to try badly before I get good... 😩

Yes, it’s always messy before mastery. The question is are we able to tolerate being an amateur with grace.

This is a really interesting perspective, writing to your past self! It is so true that we wouldn't have ever imagine where we would be now back then, same for when we think forward, we would also not be able to imagine where will end up in another decade! You may have inspired me to write a letter to my young self!

I would love to read that if you write it and feel happy to share it 😃

So many emotions while I read through this!

I feel like I want current-day you to write to current-day me and remind me to keep going, lol.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm inspired to do something similar. My heart needs it. Two versions maybe: current-day me will write to 2019 me, and then "2029 me" will write to current-day me.

I love that idea! I once did a memoir-writing workshop and the first exercise was to write a speech that someone would read at our funeral, looking back and mentioning the key points of our life. It was such a perspective-shifting exercise for me to write beyond the events that have already taken place.

Oooo totally inspired to reflect back on five years ago. I can’t believe it would be two months into the move to the US.

Yes! Who is that woman? Would she recognise you if she passed you on the street. I would love to read that...

Very moving I have to say. You give so much of yourself and that’s no easy thing to do online. Proud of you 🤍

What a beautifully written letter. So much wisdom shared. Yes, the challenges we face now, and the hard yards we put in, will become blessings in the future. Thank you for reminding us ♥️
